Weed Control
Weeds are often a natural result of a weak or poorly maintained lawn.
However, if you are new to lawn care, weeds may already have become established within your sward and action may be required.
Due to environmental concerns associated with the spraying of herbicides, many customers prefer not to use weed killer. Lawn Envy Direct has therefore taken the decision not to supply weed killer directly to our customers. Instead, we promote and advise on effective organic solutions.
Organic Methods for Weed Control
- Increase your mowing height: Keep your grass longer (around 3–4 inches) to shade the soil, making it more difficult for weed seeds to germinate.
- Regular mowing: Weeds do not like to be cut. A consistent mowing schedule removes seed heads before they can germinate and spread.
- Hand pulling: Hand pulling can be effective, but it often leaves roots behind which allows weeds to regrow. We recommend using a manual weed puller to ensure the root is fully removed. This may leave small bare patches initially, but as the fertiliser gets to work, these areas will naturally infill with grass as growth levels increase.
- Mulching: Mulching your lawn can also be an effective way to prevent weed seeds from germinating.

Selective Weedkiller
For customers who prefer to use a selective weed killer, we recommend:
This product will not harm grass and is designed to target weeds only. Always follow the instructions on the label carefully. Weed killer should never be used in windy conditions to avoid damaging other plants. For best results, do not mow the lawn for two days before or after application.
